Tenganan Girls

A group of girls wait for a ritual to get underway during a community ceremony in Tenganan in eastern Bali. The cloth they wear has been made by their mothers and is done by the rare double ikat technique in which both warp and weft threads are pre-dyed with knots according to the pattern projected before the weaving takes place. There are perhaps only 3 places in the world that do this double dying technique.
